Our Vision
Medic Assist International aims to:
- save lives and relieve suffering, through healthcare interventions
and related activities
- support indigenous healthcare professionals who are caring for people
in crisis
- restore disrupted or needy healthcare systems to effective, independent
operation
- assist new initiatives in holistic healthcare and the relief of poverty
Our aim is to work relationally. We provide volunteer specialists for
short term, specific assignments, which may be part of a longer term commitment/project.
Medic Assist International is available to serve relief and development
organisations that need specialist medical advice or resources. |
Our Approach
Medic Assist International works in a responsible & professional manner by :
- mobilising UK specialists to encourage & train indigenous healthcare personnel
- supplying essential items of medical equipment of quality
- seed funding projects that can become self-supporting and which build patient treatment capacity
Our Values
Medic Assist International operates with these values:
- dignity of human life: all human life is to be respected and valued
- equality of persons: every individual has value and significance
and is to be treated equally, irrespective of race, creed, gender or
class
- compassion: the motivation for our work is a genuine compassion for
those in need; the story of the Good Samaritan is our inspiration
- partnership: the guiding mode of operation is to partner with indigenous
providers of healthcare so as to avoid dependency and stimulate mutual
learning and development
- integrity: MAI seeks to be open and transparent in all its activities
- sustainability: we work to ensure that our partners’ projects
are sustainable in the long term through supporting their analysis and
income generation plans

Our Rationale

In many countries, individuals and whole people groups are subject to oppression,
persecution, violence and massacre by opposing ethnic groups or public authorities.
Many people are murdered, leaving behind neglected and vulnerable families.
Many
more are seriously injured, both physically and psychologically. In
other parts of the world, the oppression may be more subtle through years
of discrimination and neglect. In many other places, unjust cycles of poverty
leave many people without any form of healthcare.
In a world of compassion fatigue and media selectivity, many of these stories
fail to surface or catch the public imagination. In such circumstances,
individuals and organisations do work to bring hope and oour aim is to empower them. |
