CLINIC DREAM RECEIVES SUPPORT!
Our KwaZulu Natal Partners - a local church in Embo, led by Leonard Gcabashe - have received the backing of both the local Zulu Chief and also the elected politician for their dream of providing a primary healthcare clinic situated within the community.
At present, the 62,000 inhabitants must travel some 15 miles to access a basic clinic for HIV testing or antenatal serevices. The MAI volunteer team were amazed at what they found and are strong advocates for the church vision.
"We are delighted to have received so much support from the community," said Pastor Leonard in a recent phone call. An initial meeting with the KwaZulu Health Authority went so well that officials drove Leonard and Nurse Joyce Mkhize to view an existing private clinic operating with Government approval in another township!
