BISHOP TABAN VISIT POSTPONED; INDEPENDENCE DINNER GOES AHEAD
Recent security challenges have led us to postpone Bishop Taban's visit in May. A number of rebel groups have been formed and clashed with Government forces since the referendum with its overwhelming vote in favour of independence for the South from Khartoum.
Bishop Taban has expressed his regret at having to delay his visit but hopes to tour with MAI in the autumn.
The Pembroke College Dinner, intended to celebrate the referendum result and MAI's work with EPC will still proceed on May 19th with Baroness Cox as Guest of Honour and a pre-recorded video appearance by the Bishop!
The United Natiuons estimates that, in the fighting after the referendum, over 800 people have been killed and 94,000 displaced.
