BASIC HEALTHCARE EDUCATION PROVES A HIT IN SOUTH SUDAN!
During the recent MAI team visit to South Sudan, a volunteer team of medics met with great enthusaism and appreciation as they taught a day long Basic Heathcare workshop.
Touching on many practical local problems, like babycare to the rehydration of a person suffering from diarrhoea, the programme proved to be very beneficial to the attendees. There were 35 people, invited because of their ability to influence their communities with what they had learned. A frequent request was to come back and teach a longer programme.
The team comprised Dr John Gilbert (a GP and Board member of MAI with Sharon Bryans and Gill Fleming, both nurses in Northern Ireland.
MAI hopes to provide a longer programme aimed at teaching basic healthcare that will "Train the Trainers" in future.
